Hello my bookish loves! How are we doing this month? Read any good books lately?
By some miracle last month I was able to read a total of 7 books?!
Honestly I’m not even sure where the month went??!? and now its October!? Seriously where does the time go? That being said I was actually able to find time to read this month – and discovered two of my favorite books of ALL TIME! Heres to hoping this luck sprinkles over to October 🙂
That being said lets dive into the BOOKS:
What I read:
Dream Spinner by Kristen Ashley (4 stars) –
This book was so cute I devoured it. I’m a sucker for any book involving artists or dancers and I absolutely adored how protective Axel was of Hattie and the family aspects that were interwoven into the plot! This series took me by surprise and I’m so happy to have picked this one up at the library!
Dream Keeper by Kristen Ashley (4 stars) –
Ahhh I loved this book so much!! After devouring Dream Spinner I needed the next books in this series ASAP! That being said this one was equally – if not more cute than the last! Pepper is a single mother and I love love loved again how protective Auggie was of her and her daughter!! The family issues feel so real and raw in these books and I love all the open communication that happens between the characters! SO GOOD I love this series 🙂
Hook Line and Sinker by Tessa Bailey (3 stars) –
After loving the first book in this series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book *claps* That being said I didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the first?! I liked how fast paced the plot was and I enjoyed the characters – but for some reason I just couldn’t fully get on board with the character arch that was happening with Fox. But the tension is this book is very well done and I’m a sap for a happy ending. Overall enjoyed it and need more Tessa Bailey asap!
The Chase by Elle Kennedy (5 stars) –
AHHH I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! THE characters are PERFECTION and the plot is so fast paced and fun I couldn’t put this down!! I loved how Summer was a fashion major and thought it was super interesting how Fitz was into art and video game design. Not to mention this book is FUNNY I was laughing so hard I couldn’t put it down – plus the tension between these two is *chefs kiss*. I adored this book and loved all the friendships and family banter!! Need the next book ASAP!
Ruthless Rival by LJ Shen (5 stars) –
OMG THIS. BOOK. Soooo goooood. I love LJ Shen’s ability to not only completely break the box with her characters, but shatter it completely. Her wit is spot on and I adored how dark and complex the banter could be as well as how morally the rules were broken and remade. Christian is my one of my favorite guy characters LJ has ever written and I couldn’t put this book down!! Another golden LJ Shen book – I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Hit The Spot by J. Daniels (3.5 stars) –
I went into this book blind and didn’t really know what to expect. That being said this books is extremely emotional and unique and very very spicy. Its about a surfer who has it bad for a waitress in his town and I must say the two were like magnets. Impossible not to be drawn to one another. I had a hard time finishing it towards the end and feel like it could have been a tad shorter but other than that I’m intrigued to see what the next books in the series have in store. Definitely recommend if your looking for a fast and spicy read.
Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch (4 stars) –
I haven’t read historical romance in a hot minute and its safe to say this was just what I was looking for! A well layered plot with multiple characters tossed in with a romance with the perfect amount of hero complex and jealous and I was on. board. The characters are very cute in this book and I loved the gambling and card playing aspects mixed in as well as the betting taking place between the two. Overall was throughly entertained and can’t wait to try more from this author!
Books I’m Excited to Read Next:
- Barbarian Mine by Ruby Dixon – I just picked up my copy from the library and am happy to see where this series goes!
- Beautiful Graves by LJ Shen – I still need to grab a copy but I want to read this so badly!!
- The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – I’ve heard such great things about this book and I’m looking for something more on the lighter side so hopefully I’ll get to this one this month!
