Hello all! Can you believe it is already 2024?!??!

My book filled mind simply cannot seem to wrap around it! *still processing the shock that 2023 is over* *lays in bed in agony* *stares at TBR*….

That being said I did read some FABULOUS books in 2023 and I must say it might be one of my most successful reading years!!! I read 87 books this year and found sooo many new favorites that it was hard to narrow down this list: But here are a few that really stood out to me and made a memorable impact (aka live in my mind rent free πŸ˜‰ )

Still beating by Jennifer Hartman

One of the most HEARTBREAKING books I have ever read – please please read this you will not regret!! It will stay with you long after you read it – it is simply breathtaking and will leave scars on your heart.

Forever Never by Lucy Score

OMG this book has some of the most unique characters that make the page come to life!! Plus the chemistry is off the charts in this one and I LOVED the small town elements but really it was the unique way art is portrayed and incorporated in this book that made it an all time fav – so good!!

Fractured Sky by Catherine Cowles

This book is everything I love in a book and more!!! Two of the most broken characters finding solace in one another plus it takes place on a horse ranch – need I say more?!!!

Down London Road by Samantha Young

This book has a special place in my heart. I just really relate to both the main characters the romance in this is beautiful. 10/10 recommend.

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

THIS BOOK IS AHHHH SO GOOD ALL TIME FAV. I love how eye opening this book is and I love the way anxiety is portrayed in this. The romance is so soft and I loved how they were both doctors and understood one another in a way that is truly unmatched. This was such a nice surprise and I literally recommend it to everyone I know. So good.

Duke Most Wicked by Lenora Bell

Such a quality historical romance. I don’t remember much but I do remember she is a music teacher and he hires her to teach his sisters. The sweet moments between the two and the angst in this is just pure perfection!!! 10/10 recommend.

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig

This one totally took me by surprise in the best way. Not only is this one of the most unique fantasys I have ever read but the ROMANCE in this is so surprisingly good that it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. And the ENDING?!?!  Don’t even get me started – so freaking good.

Thorne Princess by LJ Shen

Another win from my favorite author of whole time. I feel like this book really pushed boundaries and I love how unique and complex LJ Shens characters are. I need to read more from her because I am behind lol.

Rule by Jay Crownover

AHHHHH A comforting bad boy romance I am OBSESSED with. Rule is a tattoo artist and Shaw is the girl he always thought of as belonging to his brother until everything changes and his whole world is turned on his axis. I just love the way Shaw sticks through it with him and the way they both connect and understand what the other needs. The friend group in this is also amazing but most of all I just love the way this book makes me feel. So amazing.

Heartless by Elsie Silver

Are we surprised this is one the list? No we are not. Small town romance perfection. Top tier banter. Great steam. Lovable characters. This book is just great all around and I cannot recommend it enough. Another series I need to catch up on.

A Curse for True Love by Stephanie Garber

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES OF ALL TIME. Jacks in the enigmatic love of my life book boyfriend  I need in my life and I am so SAD this series is over!!!! SOOOO good. I just love this series with my whole heart.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I LOVED THIS! I read the sequel too and the dragons, the action, the knife edged tension filled plot was PERFECTION and the romance did not disappoint either!! SO GOOD!!!

Seriously the books I read last month where: GOLD.

Pure magic dipped deliciousness good enough to rival the charm of lucky charms my friends.

Also can we believe it is officially December!!?! The holiday season is among us friends – take cover in the shelter of gingerbread structured houses and candy cane coated treats mi amigas.

That being said on to the lovlie treats that graced my finished book shelf this year *heart eyes*:

What I read:

Beauty and the Baller by Ilsa Madden Mills – 3 stars

This book was an okay read for me. Nothing very unique or special and I kind of found myself losing interest towards the end. Ilsa Madden Mills is known for her sports romances but this one sort of missed the mark for me πŸ™

Barbarians Mate by Ruby Dixon – 5 stars

AHHHH I LOVE THIS SERIES. This series is just so fun, so unique and completely bingable that I devoured this book is no time at all. Josie and Haeden HATE each other in the beginning and its so satisfying seeing them break down their walls for one another slowly over time…. I just love the way he takes care of her and puts her needs before his own in every way imaginable. Plus the friendships between the girls in these books are so fun and entertaining to read! I cant wait for the next book!

An Earl to Remember by Stacy Reid – 5 stars

THIS BOOK IS A PUDDLE OF GOLDEN GOODNESS. My friends my friends my friends if you chose any historical romance to read this year LET IT BE THIS ONE. Oh my god I could not put this books down and quite literally devoured it in almost one sitting it was that addicting. Daniel is a duke and hires Georgianna aboard his ship to be his private chef for the week…. but than an incident happens where Daniel is accidentally thrown overboard and loses all his memory …. and somehow georgianna ends up claiming that they are married?!?? Such such a good slow-burn romance omg the pinning, the mutual slow developing of feelings for one another is just *chefs kiss chefs kiss chefs kiss* I love this book with every fiber of my being and it is easily one of the best historical romances I have ever read – so good!!

A Matter of Temptation by Stacy Reid – 4.5 stars –

Of course after reading and LOVING An Earl to Remember I had to pick up another one of Stacy Reids books ASAP and boy did this one not disappoint *claps* I adored this one as well!!! This one took a little longer to grow on me but was oh so satisfying. Mina ends up being Simons secretary and his match in every way possible πŸ˜‰ Mina considers herself “ruined” from an incident that happened many years ago and is desperate to save her and her brother estate…. therefore she accepts the position to be the dukes secretly under the pretense of keeping things strictly professional. And oh boy the TENSION the ANGST in this one will have you melting into a puddle of goo. I jut love Stacy Reids writing and her ability to do slow burn romance is unmatched *claps

The Dukes Shotgun Wedding by Stacy Reid – 3 stars

This little novella was squeezed in at the end of A Matter of Temptation and I enjoyed it. While only around 100 pages it was short and spicy and everything I needed for quick little historical romance fix. Very good and recommend it your looking for a short, cozy, and spicy read to hit the spot πŸ™‚

December TBR (here are some books I will probably not get to in December but am thinking about getting to which is what counts ;))

Any who thats all for now!! Happy holidays and I hope your reading month treats you well!! If you’ve read any of the books above or have them on you TBR lets chat in the comments below!

Hello hello there my bookish friends!!! Can we believe October is over and the fall season is officially in full swing?!? I mean the LEAVES are changing, the SWEATPANTS are out, *commence the fall coziness we have all be craving*

That being said while the tv binge watching has been in full swing (gossip girl rewatch anyone??) the books I read this month have been pure *chefs kiss* and I have zero complaints from the fabulousness that graced my shelf this spooky filled SPICe month *snaps*

Of course that being said lets get on to the magic that was the books I read:

What I Read:

Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann – 5 stars

THIS BOOK!!!! AHHH sooo sooo good!!! I did not expect this book to be as emotional as it was but I was drawn in like a moth to a flame. I could not stop reading it and I swear Dean is one of my all time top book men *claps* just so so good please read this you will not regret it.

Shattered Sea by Catherine Cowles – 5 stars

This book surprised me! While I did enjoy the previous books in this series this one was so cute!! Laiken works at a local art gallery downtown and got into a car accident so she struggles with some permanent back pain and Boden is a famous actor visiting in town to get away from his hectic life. The two of them just connect in such a sweet and protective way and I loved the suspense elements in this as well! A great romance!

Fractured Sky by Catherine Cowles – 5 stars –

OMG hands down my favorite in the series this book is just perfection in every way imaginable. Just the way Shiloh and Ramsey are meant to be just had my heart racing and my mind melting. The two are both so closed off to the world due to trauma they had in the past and the way the two only connect and open up with each other is just so beautiful to watch unfold. Not to mention I loved the horses in this story and how Shiloh uses animals as a way to heal from her trauma. SO so good please read this!!!

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros – 5 stars

HANDS DOWN LIVED UP TO THE HYPE!!! This book was just so addictive, ruthless, and sexy and I could not stop reading it. Not to mention I feel like a lot of books are not so heavily focused on including dragons in their plot ( at least not in the fantasies I have read in the past) and I loved the way this book took place at a dragon rider training facility. I felt like this book was a tad predictable but definitely unique enough to keep me reading and the romance was slow burn enough to make it believable for me. Very good and I cannot wait for the sequel!!

Kiss An Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillps – 5 stars

Hello folks this book was the surprising snack I needed in my life. This sexy little book beast is like the lovechild between Water for Elephants and the 80’s movie Overboard and I am not complaining. The tension, the banter, the circus elements in this — all of it made for a book I was not expecting that surprised me in the most entertaining way possible. Such a fulfilling and satisfying romance read – the two of them were truly destined to be together and I loved how they fell in love over time and overcame obstacles together. A very good read!

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks – 4 stars –

Such a sad, pure, heartbreaking story that will stay with you long after you read it. I picked this one up after watching the movie for the millionth time and it did not disappoint. So good!

First Semester by QB Tyler – 4 stars –

This book is the hot sexiness you need in your TBR my friend. A taboo age-gap student teacher romance that will have you rooting for them as well as laughing with them. Just so entertaining and super spicy. I really enjoyed this one and need the sequel ASAP!!

Well that is all my little bookish dragons!!! I hope you enjoyed this months wrap up and that you read some amazing books as well!! Lets chat it up in the comments shall we?

-BubblyBooks

Hello all!!

How are we??

How has the reading been going?!?!

CAN WE BELIEVE IT IS Officially FALL EVERYBODY!!! *queue breaking out the blankets, tea mugs, and overbearing TBR’s!!!*

I don’t know about you all but I am seriously starting to believe in my TBR’s ability to kill me it is becoming that tall and that intimidating. Anyone else have this problem? Is they’re a support group I can join? *hides debit card from Barnes and Nobles*

That being said though I did manage to sneak in some reading last month and even found some new favorites!!! Here is a quick look below at what I was able to read this September:

What I Read:

Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young – 3 stars

This book was a little underwhelming for me. It was cute and I loved getting to see my favorite characters… but the overall relationship/relationship development just sort of felt like something I had read before?!?!? I’m sorry but my brain was a tad bored and I needed some more SPICE!!! However I do still plan on continuing with the series because I am very much invested!

Love Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood – 5 stars

I LOVE Ali Hazelwoods books and this one DID NOT disappoint *claps* *happy dance* Jack Smith-Turner is the whipped fallen angel STEM king we all need in our lives. The sheer way he was gone for Elsie in this had me swooning and drooling all at the same time. I love the way the chemistry was developed in this one and how unbelievably patient Jack was with Elsie. Not to mention I love the STEM elements thrown into these books and the way they make the relationship that much more dynamic and complicated… I cant wait to read the next one!!

Hello Stranger by Katherine Center – 5 stars

THIS BOOK FULLY TOOK ME BY SURPRISE!!!  I did not expect to fall in love with this book the way I did but it was so dang cute!! This book was also really unique in the sense that Sadie actually has a brain tumor operation in which she ends up suffering from “face blindness” a condition where she can not recognize peoples faces … and on top of that she is a portrait artist … so her newfound condition leads to a lot of inner struggle and questioning her life/purpose. I also really adored the romance in this and thought it was super interesting, refreshing, and unique seeing her fall in love with someone without knowing what they looked like.  Overall just a really fun, powerful, interesting (not to mention entertaining) story about a young woman finding herself, following her passion, and falling in love – so good!

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace – 4 stars

This book was really good! A solid YA fantasy. If you know anything about me you know I love myself a good dark, delicious, morally grey love interest…. so the very fact that Signa was tied to Death had me intrigued. Not to mention the teasing of a love triangle, the ominous visit’s from death himself, and to top it off a sprinkling of murder mystery and I was sold! Really looking forward to reading the next book!

These Monstrous Ties by KV Rose – 5 stars

OMG this book is DARK my friends. MESSED UP. TWISTED. MIND BENDING. Probably the most messed up romance I have read to date… but guys when I tell you I was invested!?!>! Lucifer is straight up one of the darkest men I have ever read about and I am 100% invested now. Lucifer and Lilith are so magnetic, so twisted, yet so drawn to one another you can not help but devour the toxic addictive mess this book has become. Toss in a broken family dynamic, a twisted friend group, and some extreme cliff hangers and you have a dark romance series that will have you staying up way past your bedtime. Really good!!

Pray for Scars by KV Rose – 5 stars

Book number two in this series was even DARKER?>!! If thats possible?!? I mean Lilith and Lucifer will have you questioning your sanity and if they are even right for each other at all. At some point I even questioned if this was a romance because it just became so dark and so toxic but at the same time so unputdownable. I am invested in this series now and will be continuing until I get answers!!!

The Cruelest Chaos by KV Rose – 4 stars –

My FAVORITE couple so far in this series (make no mistake they are still toxic, dark, and twisted… but at the same time got my heart all twisted up at the occasional curve ball of a heart warming moment thrown in). This book follows Maverick and Ella and really they’re relationship felt the most like a relationship to me in this series so far. They fight, they are toxic, they are broken, dark, and messed up… but yet they are trying to heal and connect with each other at the same time and a part of me found that struggle very relatable and very much had me routing for them despite all the darkness brewing around them and between them from their world. Just a very well written and dark series. I’d never read KV Rose before but now am dying to read more from her and of course continue this series – so so good!!

November TBR:

  • Shattered Sea by Catherine Cowles
  • Fourth Wing (I will get to this at some point!!)
  • More LJ Shen!! (I am behind *cries*)
  • Lotus by Jennifer Hartman

Hello hello my lovely reading angels! How are we today? How are we feeling? How has life been?? If your anything like me then August simply wizzed away on a cloud of smoke because WHERE did that time go?!?! (please let me know if you have found it.)

That being said I did manage to get away last month… I even took a little trip with my extended family which was really fun – and of course meant I had to bring along some books (I would simply *pass away* without my backup books)…. I even managed to get some sun (with a book in my hand of course)

That being said on to the BOOKS I devoured this past month:

What I Read:

Hidden Waters by Catherine Cowles – 5 stars –

This series is like biting into a soft, warm, comforting cupcake while the fireplace roars in the background and snow is falling on your windowpane. The epitome of comfort I absolutely adored how protective and caring Beckett was towards Addie down to my core. Addie comes from a very broken and abusive family and Beckett is the towns local veterinarian. The way these two come together had my heart melting and my mind soaring – so incredibly good you will get attached to these characters in the best way, highly recommend!

The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda – 5 stars

This book was like a freshly lit candle that you had to let burn for five hours before you could blow it out. Incredibly slow burn, deliciously angsty, this book will have you on the edge of your seat after every chapter. This one takes place in the Outer Banks in an abandoned house by the sea that a group of old friends rent every year for a twisted sort of “reunion”… however the same thing that binds them also has the power to destroy them (I wont say much else bc of spoilers)! I do not read thrillers often but I cannot recommend this one enough! The ending blew me out of the water and shattered my mind to pieces. Incredible ride – also highly recommend!!!

Lover Enshrined by JR Ward – 4 stars

Phury’s story ended up being a lot more depressing and emotionally draining than I anticipated. I did enjoy Cormia and Phury’s romance but boy the sheer ANGST in this book was enough to make me want to pull my hair out with equal parts longing and frustration. However I adore every character in this book with my whole heart and reading these novels is like slipping back into a world I am equal parts entranced and amused by – I love love this series and will 100% be continuing on!

Notorious Pleasures by Elizabeth Hoyt – 5 stars

Ahhhhhh I loved this book!!! This one was so much FUN! Elizabeth Hoyt is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint! Lady Hero is engaged to Griffen’s brother but of course she keeps running into that scandalous brother of his with his sharp tongue and eye for danger… safe to say sparks where flying from page one and was waiting for my book to catch on fire from the sheer heat of it all. I loved the push and pull between Lady Hero and Griffen and the banter in the book is great. Really solid plot line (I was not bored in the slightest throughout) and I loved how this book ended with a nice little bow on the top. So good!

Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt – 4 stars

This book was a bit similar to a red robin retelling if red robin was a women disguised as a man…. so of course I. was. intrigued!!!! I loved getting to read Alf’s story and this book was much more action packed than Elizabeth Hoyt’s other editions in the series. I love how untraditional the romance felt and how Alf quickly became a role model for Hugh’s boys. Really great read I simply love this series!

The Forever of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen – 4 stars

This book. This book my friends. Amazing. Stunning. Simply incomparable. I have recently fell in love with Jessica Soresen’s books and this one is without a doubt added to the pile of amaziningness she has created. I love how compassionate and angsty she writes her characters. How forgiving, and accepting Micha is a Ella and all her flaws and she of his. I also love the mental heath representation in this and how even though Ella is struggling Micha is there to catch her when she stumbles. It’s rare to find someone who matches you so completely and is willing to fight with you rather than walk away and I love how that kind of relationship was portrayed in this book. I am in love and will be reading anther one of Jessica Sorensen’s books ASAP. Amazing.

September TBR:

My very tentative TBR for September that I may or may not follow…..

Anywho thats all for now my bookish loves! What about you all? Read anything good recently? Have any of the books above on your TBR? Lets chat in the comments below!

-BubblyBooks

Hola my lovely reader friends!!!

I’m going to keep this intro a little bit more brief than usual because work has been keeping me so busy I can barley breathe (thankfully I have still found time to read *thanks the bookish gods*)

Anyways on to the books I was able to squeeze in during the work madness……

Books I Read in June:

Twisted Bonds by Cora Riley – 5 stars –

I love this series and I LOVED getting more of Nino and Kiara!! Cora Riley writes the best mafia books and this one was no exception! Read this a whole month ago and still find myself thinking about it – so so good!

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez – 5 starsmy review

AHHHHH THIS BOOK IS A GEM!!!!! James is the love of my life and this book had me simultaneously swooning, laughing out loud, and crying. This book was an emotional bullet to the heart and I am not apologizing for it.

Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez – 3 stars

This book was okay. For some reason I could not find myself connecting to the characters even though it was cute at times (probably because I read this one after Yours Truly and nothing can top my King James *swoons*) still a solid book that I would recommend overall!

Lover Eternal by JR Ward – 5 stars

THIS SERIES IS GOLDEN. I love every book in this series so far and Mary and Rhage were just AMAZING in every way possible. I love the supernatural elements in this, the in depth character connections, and multiple POV’s just take this series to a whole new level. Not to mention the pure heart destructive emotions these books bring out in me have me crying tears of devistation from the pure level of investment I have in these characters. So SO good!

Lover Awakened by JR Ward – 5 stars –

Another book for the win!! This series just more and more layered every book in and I adored the dark layers to this book. It was hard to get through at some points due to how heavy emotionally some of the scenes weighed on me but I loved Zsadist with every fiber of my being and could not put this book down. This series is so so good!!

Lover Revealed by JR Ward – 5 stars –

BUTCH my favorite!!! I love love loved Butch and Marissa in this. I had been waiting for Butch’s book since book one and it is safe to say this one did not disappoint!! I love how overprotective each male character is in this series and the side plots of all the other characters in this one wove together a story filled with action, love, danger, and thrills that had my small heart pounding out of my chest – LOVED it!!!

The Rebel and the Rake – 3 stars –

Sadly this one also fell flat for me. I ADORED Emily Sullivans first book in this series (the ANGST in the book *cries*) but I found myself sort of disinterested in this plot about halfway through and not really caring about the outcome towards the end of it…. however I do still want to read her last book just to see how she ties everything up!

Books I Read in July:

Thorne Princess by LJ Shen – 5 stars –

I missed my queen LJ Shen. This book was amazing. I loved how messed up Ransom was and I missed the classic a-holes LJ Shen is so good at writing. I also really connected with Hallie and loved her character development throughout this. The angst was as always unreal and I love how each and every one of her books is so out of the box and manages to surprise me and make me fall in love every time. So good! Highly highly recommend!

The End Zone by LJ Shen – 4 stars –

This was a cute, short novella of LJ Shens that I managed to read. It was cute and steamy but no real surprises here – I enjoyed it though and loved the bonus epilogues from some of her past books at the end! I will read anything LJ Shen writes haha!

Lover Unbound by JR Ward – 5 stars

Another solid win for this series. While not my favorite in the series I still loved this book all the same. One of my favorite series of all time.

Flawless by Elsie Silver – 4 stars –

This book was so good!!! I love this series and I love how fun and addicting each character is to read about! I still think Heartless is my favorite in the series so far but still really really enjoyed this book! (reminded me of The Longest Ride but in the best way) amazing!

Forever Never by Lucy Score – 5 starsmy review

THIS BOOK THIS BOOK THIS BOOK!!!! ahhhhh let me introduce you folks to the book that is responsible for putting me into a gauging reading slump *queue drum roll* I came into this with negative expectations only to have them blown out of the water in every way possible. I loved Brick and how solid, sturdy, and dependable he was. I loved the small town aspects of this. The way they were both mutually obsessed with one another (my WEAKNESS). I also was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of the Remi’s artistic abilities and how she saw auras of songs and used them to inspire her paintings. I also loved the romantic suspense elements in this and was WHOLLY invested by the end!!! AMAZING AMAZING!!!

Falling Embers by Catherine Cowles – 4 stars –

This series is so cute and comforting. While I think Calder and Hadley are my least favorite couple so far I am a sucker for small town romance and anything borderline overprotectiveness …. and this book served both of those up on a platter I could not stop devouring. Safe to say I found a new series to be addicted to and I am jumping into this rabbit hole head first.

Any who thats all the books I was able to devour so far this summer!! What about you all? Read anything good this summer? Have any summer reading plans or recs? LMK in the comments below!

Forever Never

by Lucy Score

Rating 5/5 stars

My Review:

Ahhhhh this book y’all. ………..

This. BOOK. *internal squeals of joy*

I must say my mind is currently somewhere lost in the pacific, blown out of the water. I mean I came into this with my expectations on the floor. Seriously they were below ground level, buried so deep into the core of the earth they might as well have been partying with magma (thats how low my standards were for this read)….

and then entered the god that is Brick Callignhan

Safe to say, I came in to this one completely blind with nothing but my senses to guide me and came out glowing like a star from the sheer amounts of straight dopamine this book delivered into my body. (Thank you fictional god who is nicknamed after a brick wall).

me the entire time reading this book

I mean this book blew me away with its originality and premise: Remi is a famous painter who has the ability to see the colors or auras of songs she listening to. Her paintings have just started to take off and its only when one of her friends ends up in danger that she ends up back in her hometown….. and closer to her old crush/long lost love Brick Callinghan. The two of them are thrown together again after bumping into one another at the local super market…. and Jesus takes the wheel after that!!!

Of course it wouldn’t be me if this book did not have straight up CHEMISTRY between the main characters: (Brick and Remi) *claps* *fans self* I mean this book had my face on fire and my heart a dissolving into a pile of sugar simultaneously. The angst alone in this had me twirling strands of hair out of my head, and me telling my stupid brain NOT TO GET INVESTED because we all know the heart was in truck crushing danger

I mean the straight FIRE between the two. The yearning. The pining. I was a fish lost at sea and drowning with no oxygen waiting for the slightest touch between the two. Hell I was sweating just from the two of them brushing hands for crying out loud.

Me waiting for Brick and Remi to kiss

BUT…. lets just say the wait was worth it because GOD DAMN. The straight spice that came out of these two was enough to season a lifetime supply of fajitas for crying out loud.

However, not only was this book a pile of hot flames….but it truly was so much more

I could feel the love between Remi and Brick like it was a tangible thing. And while I admit it might have been a tad much at times, I feel like the plot was really well balanced with a layer of suspense that had me on my toes waiting for the other shoe to drop. I loved the family fights in this book. The very realistic relationship Remi had with her older sister, the love Brick had for his younger brother Spencer, all of which helped shape this book into a layered read I could feel and sink into. I loved the action, the danger, and the level of protectiveness brought out in Brick…. it was all just *chefs kiss*!

My second read of Lucy Scores (following Things I Never Got Over) and certainly not my last! So good!!!
