Hello hello my lovely reading angels! How are we today? How are we feeling? How has life been?? If your anything like me then August simply wizzed away on a cloud of smoke because WHERE did that time go?!?! (please let me know if you have found it.)

That being said I did manage to get away last month… I even took a little trip with my extended family which was really fun – and of course meant I had to bring along some books (I would simply *pass away* without my backup books)…. I even managed to get some sun (with a book in my hand of course)

That being said on to the BOOKS I devoured this past month:

What I Read:

Hidden Waters by Catherine Cowles – 5 stars –

This series is like biting into a soft, warm, comforting cupcake while the fireplace roars in the background and snow is falling on your windowpane. The epitome of comfort I absolutely adored how protective and caring Beckett was towards Addie down to my core. Addie comes from a very broken and abusive family and Beckett is the towns local veterinarian. The way these two come together had my heart melting and my mind soaring – so incredibly good you will get attached to these characters in the best way, highly recommend!

The Only Survivors by Megan Miranda – 5 stars

This book was like a freshly lit candle that you had to let burn for five hours before you could blow it out. Incredibly slow burn, deliciously angsty, this book will have you on the edge of your seat after every chapter. This one takes place in the Outer Banks in an abandoned house by the sea that a group of old friends rent every year for a twisted sort of “reunion”… however the same thing that binds them also has the power to destroy them (I wont say much else bc of spoilers)! I do not read thrillers often but I cannot recommend this one enough! The ending blew me out of the water and shattered my mind to pieces. Incredible ride – also highly recommend!!!

Lover Enshrined by JR Ward – 4 stars

Phury’s story ended up being a lot more depressing and emotionally draining than I anticipated. I did enjoy Cormia and Phury’s romance but boy the sheer ANGST in this book was enough to make me want to pull my hair out with equal parts longing and frustration. However I adore every character in this book with my whole heart and reading these novels is like slipping back into a world I am equal parts entranced and amused by – I love love this series and will 100% be continuing on!

Notorious Pleasures by Elizabeth Hoyt – 5 stars

Ahhhhhh I loved this book!!! This one was so much FUN! Elizabeth Hoyt is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint! Lady Hero is engaged to Griffen’s brother but of course she keeps running into that scandalous brother of his with his sharp tongue and eye for danger… safe to say sparks where flying from page one and was waiting for my book to catch on fire from the sheer heat of it all. I loved the push and pull between Lady Hero and Griffen and the banter in the book is great. Really solid plot line (I was not bored in the slightest throughout) and I loved how this book ended with a nice little bow on the top. So good!

Duke of Pleasure by Elizabeth Hoyt – 4 stars

This book was a bit similar to a red robin retelling if red robin was a women disguised as a man…. so of course I. was. intrigued!!!! I loved getting to read Alf’s story and this book was much more action packed than Elizabeth Hoyt’s other editions in the series. I love how untraditional the romance felt and how Alf quickly became a role model for Hugh’s boys. Really great read I simply love this series!

The Forever of Ella and Micha by Jessica Sorensen – 4 stars

This book. This book my friends. Amazing. Stunning. Simply incomparable. I have recently fell in love with Jessica Soresen’s books and this one is without a doubt added to the pile of amaziningness she has created. I love how compassionate and angsty she writes her characters. How forgiving, and accepting Micha is a Ella and all her flaws and she of his. I also love the mental heath representation in this and how even though Ella is struggling Micha is there to catch her when she stumbles. It’s rare to find someone who matches you so completely and is willing to fight with you rather than walk away and I love how that kind of relationship was portrayed in this book. I am in love and will be reading anther one of Jessica Sorensen’s books ASAP. Amazing.

September TBR:

My very tentative TBR for September that I may or may not follow…..

Anywho thats all for now my bookish loves! What about you all? Read anything good recently? Have any of the books above on your TBR? Lets chat in the comments below!

Hola my lovely reader friends!!!

I’m going to keep this intro a little bit more brief than usual because work has been keeping me so busy I can barley breathe (thankfully I have still found time to read *thanks the bookish gods*)

Anyways on to the books I was able to squeeze in during the work madness……

Books I Read in June:

Twisted Bonds by Cora Riley – 5 stars –

I love this series and I LOVED getting more of Nino and Kiara!! Cora Riley writes the best mafia books and this one was no exception! Read this a whole month ago and still find myself thinking about it – so so good!

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez – 5 starsmy review

AHHHHH THIS BOOK IS A GEM!!!!! James is the love of my life and this book had me simultaneously swooning, laughing out loud, and crying. This book was an emotional bullet to the heart and I am not apologizing for it.

Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez – 3 stars

This book was okay. For some reason I could not find myself connecting to the characters even though it was cute at times (probably because I read this one after Yours Truly and nothing can top my King James *swoons*) still a solid book that I would recommend overall!

Lover Eternal by JR Ward – 5 stars

THIS SERIES IS GOLDEN. I love every book in this series so far and Mary and Rhage were just AMAZING in every way possible. I love the supernatural elements in this, the in depth character connections, and multiple POV’s just take this series to a whole new level. Not to mention the pure heart destructive emotions these books bring out in me have me crying tears of devistation from the pure level of investment I have in these characters. So SO good!

Lover Awakened by JR Ward – 5 stars –

Another book for the win!! This series just more and more layered every book in and I adored the dark layers to this book. It was hard to get through at some points due to how heavy emotionally some of the scenes weighed on me but I loved Zsadist with every fiber of my being and could not put this book down. This series is so so good!!

Lover Revealed by JR Ward – 5 stars –

BUTCH my favorite!!! I love love loved Butch and Marissa in this. I had been waiting for Butch’s book since book one and it is safe to say this one did not disappoint!! I love how overprotective each male character is in this series and the side plots of all the other characters in this one wove together a story filled with action, love, danger, and thrills that had my small heart pounding out of my chest – LOVED it!!!

The Rebel and the Rake – 3 stars –

Sadly this one also fell flat for me. I ADORED Emily Sullivans first book in this series (the ANGST in the book *cries*) but I found myself sort of disinterested in this plot about halfway through and not really caring about the outcome towards the end of it…. however I do still want to read her last book just to see how she ties everything up!

Books I Read in July:

Thorne Princess by LJ Shen – 5 stars –

I missed my queen LJ Shen. This book was amazing. I loved how messed up Ransom was and I missed the classic a-holes LJ Shen is so good at writing. I also really connected with Hallie and loved her character development throughout this. The angst was as always unreal and I love how each and every one of her books is so out of the box and manages to surprise me and make me fall in love every time. So good! Highly highly recommend!

The End Zone by LJ Shen – 4 stars –

This was a cute, short novella of LJ Shens that I managed to read. It was cute and steamy but no real surprises here – I enjoyed it though and loved the bonus epilogues from some of her past books at the end! I will read anything LJ Shen writes haha!

Lover Unbound by JR Ward – 5 stars

Another solid win for this series. While not my favorite in the series I still loved this book all the same. One of my favorite series of all time.

Flawless by Elsie Silver – 4 stars –

This book was so good!!! I love this series and I love how fun and addicting each character is to read about! I still think Heartless is my favorite in the series so far but still really really enjoyed this book! (reminded me of The Longest Ride but in the best way) amazing!

Forever Never by Lucy Score – 5 starsmy review

THIS BOOK THIS BOOK THIS BOOK!!!! ahhhhh let me introduce you folks to the book that is responsible for putting me into a gauging reading slump *queue drum roll* I came into this with negative expectations only to have them blown out of the water in every way possible. I loved Brick and how solid, sturdy, and dependable he was. I loved the small town aspects of this. The way they were both mutually obsessed with one another (my WEAKNESS). I also was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of the Remi’s artistic abilities and how she saw auras of songs and used them to inspire her paintings. I also loved the romantic suspense elements in this and was WHOLLY invested by the end!!! AMAZING AMAZING!!!

Falling Embers by Catherine Cowles – 4 stars –

This series is so cute and comforting. While I think Calder and Hadley are my least favorite couple so far I am a sucker for small town romance and anything borderline overprotectiveness …. and this book served both of those up on a platter I could not stop devouring. Safe to say I found a new series to be addicted to and I am jumping into this rabbit hole head first.

Any who thats all the books I was able to devour so far this summer!! What about you all? Read anything good this summer? Have any summer reading plans or recs? LMK in the comments below!

Forever Never

by Lucy Score

Rating 5/5 stars

My Review:

Ahhhhh this book y’all. ………..

This. BOOK. *internal squeals of joy*

I must say my mind is currently somewhere lost in the pacific, blown out of the water. I mean I came into this with my expectations on the floor. Seriously they were below ground level, buried so deep into the core of the earth they might as well have been partying with magma (thats how low my standards were for this read)….

and then entered the god that is Brick Callignhan

Safe to say, I came in to this one completely blind with nothing but my senses to guide me and came out glowing like a star from the sheer amounts of straight dopamine this book delivered into my body. (Thank you fictional god who is nicknamed after a brick wall).

me the entire time reading this book

I mean this book blew me away with its originality and premise: Remi is a famous painter who has the ability to see the colors or auras of songs she listening to. Her paintings have just started to take off and its only when one of her friends ends up in danger that she ends up back in her hometown….. and closer to her old crush/long lost love Brick Callinghan. The two of them are thrown together again after bumping into one another at the local super market…. and Jesus takes the wheel after that!!!

Of course it wouldn’t be me if this book did not have straight up CHEMISTRY between the main characters: (Brick and Remi) *claps* *fans self* I mean this book had my face on fire and my heart a dissolving into a pile of sugar simultaneously. The angst alone in this had me twirling strands of hair out of my head, and me telling my stupid brain NOT TO GET INVESTED because we all know the heart was in truck crushing danger

I mean the straight FIRE between the two. The yearning. The pining. I was a fish lost at sea and drowning with no oxygen waiting for the slightest touch between the two. Hell I was sweating just from the two of them brushing hands for crying out loud.

Me waiting for Brick and Remi to kiss

BUT…. lets just say the wait was worth it because GOD DAMN. The straight spice that came out of these two was enough to season a lifetime supply of fajitas for crying out loud.

However, not only was this book a pile of hot flames….but it truly was so much more

I could feel the love between Remi and Brick like it was a tangible thing. And while I admit it might have been a tad much at times, I feel like the plot was really well balanced with a layer of suspense that had me on my toes waiting for the other shoe to drop. I loved the family fights in this book. The very realistic relationship Remi had with her older sister, the love Brick had for his younger brother Spencer, all of which helped shape this book into a layered read I could feel and sink into. I loved the action, the danger, and the level of protectiveness brought out in Brick…. it was all just *chefs kiss*!

My second read of Lucy Scores (following Things I Never Got Over) and certainly not my last! So good!!!

Yours Truly

By: Abby Jiminez

Rating: 5/5 stars

My Review:

This book was such a sweet, sugar-coated CUPCAKE of surprise!!!

My heart is now a pile of dissolved sugar and I do not know how I am going to recover.

For real I do not think words can honestly express the gaping crater sized void that has now filled my life since I’ve finished this book.

This book was an explosion. A tsunami crashing against my shores. I’m taking catastrophic level of destruction – and I am thanking it throughly for the havoc this book has left on my life.

First off, the book follows two doctors: Bria bubbly, fun-loving, family oriented grounded ER doctor…. and Jamesan introverted, kind-hearted, soft anxiety ridden individual… who is also happens to be an ER doctor… and who also just happens to switch jobs and end up working at the same hospital as Bri. A few mix ups later and Bri suddenly thinks James is out for her job, rude, and all around an man she cannot stand to hear about let alone stand next to. However that all starts to change when a few letters start to be swapped between the two…

Let me just start off by saying that James is the love of my life.

Seriously, I would write sonnets about James. I would shout “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Frankie Valli on the stairs of a high school soccer field a la Heath Ledger styles in order to snatch myself a James. He is the soft, gentle, head over heels all in softie that we simply all need in are lives.

Not to mention James struggle with anxiety and the way it was portrayed in this book made me feel so connected and understood. It gave me a new perspective on how other people internalize their struggles and the way it comes off to others and how some people who do not understand where James was coming from or his struggles with social anxiety would find him rude or passive aggressive when really he was just overthinking his thoughts/movements (I also loved how James journaled as a coping mechanism for his anxiety):

โ€œI had to remember that not everyone over-thought everything the way I did. Wouldnโ€™t it be amazing to live like that? To not carry that burden around with you. To not feel constantly overwhelmed and overstimulated and second-guess every little thing.โ€

And I absolutely ADORED the way Bri understood him and gave him space without him having to ask for it, or details he would need without him requesting it. It was like the two of them were in sync with one another need without them having to ask. Like an invisible thread connected them and kept pulling them back towards one another against their conscious will *sobs*:

Me the whole time anything cute happened between Bri and James

PLUS the push and pull between James and Bri had me at the edge of my seat while simultaneously making hand gestures from the PURE frustration the severe lack of COMMUNICATION between these two. Seriously these two were so meant for each other and they both just kept getting in their own way from being with one another!! It was MADDENING!!

โ€œHave you ever heard the saying that if youโ€™re with someone who doesnโ€™t speak your language, youโ€™ll spend a lifetime having to translate your soul? Amy never spoke your language. [โ€ฆ] Brianaโ€™s different. She understands you, even when you donโ€™t say anything at all.โ€

But the angst, the funny families, a swearing parrot, and my heart was MELTING by the time I finished this masterpiece. I also loved how the two of them swapped letters in the beginning – letters or notes swapped between any two main characters in a book is my pure weakness.

โ€œI always think that when weโ€™re quiet, weโ€™re agreeing to be harmless to each other. That weโ€™re just sharing the same space and letting each other exist exactly as we are, and neither of us would hurt or upset the other one.โ€

Anyways, please read this book. Just do it. You will not be sorry. Easily one of the best books I have read this year!

Ahhhh hello my lovely bookish roses!!! How are we today?? How is everybody doing!!? How are the BOOKS??! Have the bookish fairies been good to you? Been sprinkled with any magical reads lately?? Please LET ME KNOW!! My TBR may be big enough to kill me at this point but I can never get enough recs so please flood my comments with your favorites!!

That being said this month ended up being sprinkled with sugar coated fairy dust because the books I read were absolute magical, sparkle coated cupcakes that I devoured at an unhealthy rate. (seriously they were SO. dang. flipping. good.)

I even was lucky enough to have flipped through the page of some new favorite books of all time….. thank you exploding TBR for putting off killing me for a few more days and instead popping out books good enough to melt my heart into some liquid gold.

But enough of my rambling on here and onto the books that blessed my eyes last month *claps*:

What I Read this Month:

Midnight Kisses by Jeanine Bennedict – 5 stars

Hello all and welcome to my new obsession. The pages of which consume my every waking thought, my every color drenched dream, my every day dream or zone out moment. Enter this beautiful beauty of a book: Greta and Otis just might be one of my favorite books couples of all time (if not the favorite) and I am incapable of apologizing for it. One of the most realistic romances I have read (seriously these two characters personalities felt like real people to me and honestly it felt like I was reading about reality in the best way). Please if you chose to read any book I’ve ever recommended… read this one *prays you add to your exploding TBR*

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber – 4 stars –

JACKS IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. Dang flabbit I was not expecting to fall as hard for this book as I thought. Seriously I still have scrape marks on my arms and face from falling so hard for this book. I love the world of Caraval and read the Caraval series a fat minute ago… that being said I think I might like this series even better??!?!? Who am I??!? But Jacks just had me falling impossibly hard and I adored every second of his apple filled manipulative snarky self…. not to mention I adored Evangeline’s rose gold colored glasses in which she saw the world. SO freaking good!

The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber – 5 stars

AHHHHH this book has my heart and my soul. Seriously my soul is off of a highway somewhere trampled and run over and bleeding to death from the emotional trauma this book put me through. If I thought book one punched me in the face with feelings…. it had nothing on book two. And THAT ENDING I have still not recovered and please do not talk to me until book 3 is published in October please and thank you.

Pucked Love by Helena Hunting – 4 stars

I am so sad this series has come to an end *sobs*. The Pucked world has grown on me completely and Darren and Charlenes story was not exception. Honestly this book was a lot softer and sweeter than I anticipated and I deeply enjoyed the way the romance unfolded between the two. Such fun family dynamics, with a twist of dirty banter, and a sprinkle of hockey lingo… great series!!

Twisted Emotions by Cora Riley – 5 stars

NINO. Thats it thats the review. Read this book for Nino – I love him and Kiara with my whole heart and Cora Riley knows how to write a mafia family like no other. The blood drenched moments, the heart shredding emotions, the breath stopping tension, everything about this had my mind darkening and my heart opening. Hands down one of my favorite couples she has ever written (its up there with Aria and Luca ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) Highly recommend!

Twisted Pride by Cora Riley – 4 stars

Wow. This one was even more intense than Twisted Emotions. Much darker, much more questionable but I still loved Remo all the same and I liked how him and Serafinas romance ended even if my morals had to hop a few fences to get there. A really great series!

While the Duke Was Sleeping by Sophie Jordan – 4 stars

This book was so cute and steamy!! Just the type of light and fluffy book I needed. The kissing scenes in this are A+ plus toss in some amnesia and falling for the wrong brother and I am SOLD. Really cute and light and I can’t wait to read more from Sophie Jordan!

A Rogue to Remember by Emily Sullivan – 5 stars

OMG this one completely blew me apart and drifted me away. My expectations were on the ground for this one (mostly because I didn’t know anything about it going in) and I must say the wind was blown right into my sails and had my heart drifting away by the end of chapter one. The mutual pinning from both Alec and Lotties POV’s had me wanting to tear my hair out and shout from the rooftops “You both love each other just kiss already!?!” The angst in this book was just *chefs kiss* and I loved how both Lottie and Alec had a past connection from their childhood together! Just so, SO good!

Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas – 5 stars

I must say this is probably one of my favorite historical romances of all time. Sebastian is the snarky unapologetic bastard we all need in our lives. I loved everything about this book and the way Sebastian takes care of Evangeline had my mouth hanging open in awe and admiration. The plot is one of the most layered and atmospheric I have read in a historical and I loved how their love for each other opened up and grew over time. I do not re-read books often but I just may have to pick this one up again because I already can not stop thinking about it!

Royally Matched by Emma Chase – 5 stars

An up and coming king who decides to ignore his duties and sign up for a royal reality tv show instead?? Yes please. This book was like the dirty crossover between The Bachelor and The Princess Diaries and I devoured every page of it. Henry is straight up hilarious and his internal monologue had me laughing out loud at several moments. I loved how hard he fell for Sarah and the way these two truly cared about one another above all else. Really great, fun, and addicting series!

What I Watched:

Queen Charlotte (season 1) –

I loved this series!!! Devoured it in two days total and already need more!!

Desperate Housewives (season 3) –

This series had consumed my life and I will not stop watching at all costs. Amazing.

The Little Mermaid (live action)

This was really good! I loved who they cast as prince eric and the special effects were really good! Was pleasantly surprised by this one!

(Tentative) June TBR:

  • Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
  • Twisted Hearts by Cora Riley (Savios book!!!)
  • Stinger by Mia Sheridan
  • First Semester by QB Tyler
  • Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

Very, very tentative TBR because we all know I cannot commit to save my life ๐Ÿ˜‰ However I am hoping to get to some of these this month!

Hello hello there my little reading friends? How are we doing today?

Well if the title was any indication than you would know that last month was not my most successful reading endeavor.

BUT we are ignoring that in favor of the candy coated little snacks that DID grace my fingertips last month.

That being said even though I was busy (all this life is getting in the way of my reading time smh) I was able to read some golden coated gems in the form of books that I throughly enjoyed!

On to the books!

What I read this month:

Dark Lover by J.R. Ward – 5 stars

This book was great. I throughly/deeply/completely am enamored with the sexiness that is Wrath. He is everything and its safe to say I need more. I was throughly entertained with this one and I loved the side characters! So good!

Scarred by Emily Mcintire – 4 stars

This was pretty good. I was entertained. I was flipping the pages. Really enjoyed the first three quarters of this but the end just became a bit overdone for me. Still a really solid read!

Royally Screwed by Emma Chase – 5 stars

This book is really great! Think Princess Diaries 2 but make it dirty and make the prince a self centered, sex obsessed rebel running away from home!! This book read like a rom-com you genuinely didn’t want to end!! I loved the characters, the make over scenes, and the genuine chemistry between the characters – SO good!! Not to mention this book was also hilarious and I could not stop laughing. Great if you want a princess/prince filled dreamy read with a touch of reality. Highly recommend!

Tangled by Emma Chase – 3.5 stars

OMG this book. Let me tell you if your looking for something super different and super quirky than this is the book for you. Emma Chase knows how to write a guy character that will have you tearing you hair out and seconds away from throwing the book across the room. Seriously I could not decide if I was routing for this man or if I wanted him to fail spectacularly. But at the end I was kinda feeling bad for him and I started pulling for the steamy filled office romance that was Kate and Drew. Will I read the sequel? Probably not. But did I enjoy this one? Yes, yes I did.

The Secret of Ella and Micha  by Jessica Sorensen- 5 stars

AHHHHH Jessica Sorensen knows how to write a book that pulls at my weak little frail heart!!! This book is just classic goldeness that I will never get tired of reading. Ella and Micha are childhood neighbors that are pulled apart due to a tragic incident that happens to Ellas mother and let me tell you my heart was stretched like putty during this one. I didn’t have answers and was left searching for them desperately while simultaneously becoming deeply attached my to man Micha *sexiness encompassed*. This book was just *chefs kiss* and the romance had me invested the whole time – can not wait to read book two!!

Down London Road by Samantha Young – 5 stars

UGHHHH THIS BOOK. I do not cry very easily. I do not cry while reading books. I sometimes cry while watching movies.

I cried while reading this book.

That is all. This book destroyed me in every way possible. I connected with Jo so much on so many levels and Cam was just ughhhhhhh I need a man like this to exist in real life. This series is just so amazing

Ana Maria and the Fox by Liana De La Rosa – 5 starsMy Review

This book surprised me in the best way! Gideon was such a compassionate, stable, and trustworthy man I simply adored the way he was enamored by Ana Maria! Not to mention the amazing supportive and touching interactions with Ana Marias sisters had me both routing and swooning for every storyline! This book was just so comforting and sweet and cute!!! I loved it – highly recommend if your looking for a great romance with a touch of Mexican history thrown in!

Ana Maria and The Fox

by Liana De La Rosa

Rating: 5/5 stars

My Review:

Well this book was a delicious little surprise I was not expecting.

I admit, I may have picked this one up based on the pretty cover alone …. (I may be suffering from a weakness for beautiful shiny covers thank you very much). That being said this beautiful gem of a cover not only had a gorgeous candy coated outside but a decadent, rich, and flavorful inside!

This book was magical! Taking place in foggy London, Ana Maria arrives on the run with her two sisters her father having sent them away due to it being too dangerous for them to stay in Mexico. After being thrown into the limelight Ana Maria and her sisters struggle to adjust to life in London after engaging  in a wave of gatherings, balls, and social calls but must admit they are beginning to enjoy the small slice of freedom London has offered them.

Enter Gideon…. (my LOVE). Proper, posed, collected Gideon is on a mission and no one is going to distract him from his political goals… that is until Ana Maria sweeps into the room and steals all of his focus ๐Ÿ˜‰

I must say I was not expecting to love the ABSOLUTE SLOW BURN in this book!!! Every touch, every interaction was so composed and so lingering with underlying attraction that I was DYING from anticipation and could not turn the pages fast enough. The soft love that develops between these two is addicting to watch unfold and I was throughly engaged until the very end!!

I mean the straight up CHEMISTRY between these two was so perfectly plotted that I could not help but route for them and yearn for them all at the same time. I appreciated the way it took its time to unravel, toss in high political stakes, and witty supportive interactions with Ana Marias sisters and I was completely enthralled the whole time!!!

Overall it’s safe to say my expectations were completely blown out of the water with this one and I love how Mexican history was incorporated throughout the book. Not to mention I am now 100% invested in her sisters flirtations with Captain Dawson and the Duke of Mitchell and I NEED the next books already!!!

If your looking for a slow burn, sweet, enthralling romance with a touch of history than I highly recommend this book! So good!!
