Hello and welcome to “I am addicted to Enemies to Lovers books anonymous.”

My name is Jamie and I am addicted to reading Enemies to Lovers books.”

Over my reading lifetime I have come to learn about myself that I am a sucker for a good romance… ESPECIALLY an Enemies to Lovers romance. I mean the banter. The angst. The wanting to kill each other one moment and than wanting to destroy whoever dares threatens them the next… just ahshddh *my heart yearns*

That being said… as a through lover and enjoyer of “Enemies to lovers” books it was a STRUGGLE to narrow this list down to just *10 books* as there are soooo many I could rant about for days and throw in your face while saying “read this pleaseeee and thank youuu” so I just decided I would rant about the first books that came to mind that I love with my whole book filled SOUL!!

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Ah Cardan and Jude… will I ever stop ranting about this fabulous bookish pairing?? I think not. They are one of my original favorite enemies to lovers couples and honestly one of my FAVORITE book couples of all time!!! I love this book so much and recommend it to literally the WORLD it is fabulous.

The Hating Game by Sally Throne

No surprise this one made the list. I love Lucy and Josh and this is the enemies to lover office romance you need in your life. Its almost a bit of a mix between the “enemies to lovers” trope and the “it’s always been you” trope and I love it so much!!

Daughter of a Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Oh snap this book was good. Like I loved it. The pirates. The banter. The unabashed snakiness and wickedness between the two love interests?!? Yes please!! This book was not entirely what I expected but in the best of ways and the Pirates of the Caribbean lover in me was screaming in rejoice while reading this!! Loved it!

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I really loved this book. If bodyguards are your weakness than you will love this book. Especially if you love tense, flirty banter, and shameless flirting – than yes you will love this one. Still not over that ending tho – O.M.G. need book two ughhhh!!

Pretty Reckless by LJ Shen

Ok so we all know it wouldn’t be a post by your truly if I didn’t include an LJ Shen book. She is one of my FAVVV romance authors #queen and this one is one of her best “Enemies to lovers” in terms of plot line. The boy absolutely hates the girl and everything she stands for and vows to destroy her and her life… but things get complicated as feelings start to entangle in the mess between them…. and yup I loved it! Honestly this whole series is a GEM!

The Wraith and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

This book. I loved it. One of my favorite retellings. Khalid does horrible things. He is a monster. Shahrzad is supposed to hate him. She does hate him…. or does she?? SO FREAKIN GOOD omg if you love slow burn and enemies to lovers than you will love this.

Stalking Jack the Ripper

By: Kerri Maniscalco

Rating: 4/5 stars

Summary:

Presented by James Patterson’s new children’s imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion…

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Review:

Well this book was like a breath of fresh air in a spring meadow.

Seriously guys – I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did and now here I am two days later – suffering from a massive book hangover and in desperate need of two Advil, a glass of water, and some must needed rest.

This book was a whirlwind tornado of mystery, murder, shameless flirty boys (or shall I say a certain flirtatious blond in particular 😉 ), and lots and lots of blood, blood, BLOOD. Like seriously if you are a fan of my boy: Sherlock Holmes – than this book is the perfect little snack for you to take a bit of.

Not to mention this book read QUICK! The writing was very well done for a debut release – and I flew through this at an unmentionable speed (hence the hangover after said binge reading *sigh*) and am now desperately pleased my library has the next book! (small miracles *welcome here*).

The book follows Audrey Rose – an incredibly bright, brilliant, glows like a ray of sun, seventeen year old girl with a rather unusual (but fabulous) interest in the scientific fields and all things cadavers and dead bodies (she’s not your average teen that for sure – but that why we love her of course). She’s currently studying all things revolving around said “dead bodies” with her crazy Uncle — of course since it is the 1800s her dad disproves (but we love a good rebel origin story nevertheless) and so of course I was 100% on board with all the sneaking out, disobeying, and sleuthing in this book. 100% ON BOARD.

And than theres Thomas. Oh Thomas my new little fictional love where have you been all my life?? Seriously any boy (fictional or not) who is fluent in the language of shameless flirting can have my heart *rips out heart and gives it to boys of the like of Thomas Cresswell*. Thomas Cresswell is a brilliant science brained GEM in this book and honestly is one of the reasons this books pages flew out of my hands and into my mind. He was a fabulous little snarky thing and I LIVED for him and Audreys banter throughout this entire thing. #partnersincrimearethebest

I mean honestly who doesn’t love flirty banter amongst solving a deadly murder mystery? Makes everything all the more fun don’t you think?

That being said I didn’t predict the ending until the very last few pages and my heart nearly stopped from the SHOCK of it!! Usually I am quite good at predicting things but this book had me riveted and second guessing my very own thoughts as if they were not my own to begin with!

A lovely little murder mystery snack that I recommend to all those looking for a good quick read that will keep them riveted with lovely likable characters – a dash of murder – and a bit of romance swirled in 😉
